NYD at the Museum: SoulSphere of Jakarta [Picture]
[Jakarta, LTTW] Namarina Youth Dance (NYD) at the Museum: SoulSphere of Jakarta was a unique dance performance reflecting the behavior of the people of Jakarta. Much like a time machine, NYD invited us to look back further to the past, contemplate today’s conditions (both potential and threats) and to foresee the future of Jakarta. The event was held in The National Museum of Indonesia, on August 3 – 4, 2019.
Like an archaeologist’s work, re-imagining history is the first step to understanding the past. “Imagination is more important than knowledge.” (Albert Einstein). | Photo : Namarina Youth Dance / SupraptoThis is what today looks like. Some say it’s colorful and beautiful, some say there’s too much color. Well, it depends on how we individually comprehend it, right? | Photo : Namarina Youth Dance / Suprapto“Too much color will kill you”. Blue, red and yellow paint, mix it together senselessly and you’ll get a dark and dull tone, and often ruins everything. | Photo : Namarina Youth Dance / SupraptoStand up and rise! “There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in”, says Leonard Cohen. | Photo : Namarina Youth Dance / SupraptoIs this a dream? It’s only a dream when you don’t do anything about it. Keep moving! | Photo : Namarina Youth Dance / Suprapto
