Not easy to comprehend, that’s one thing for sure. In a way, this is the kind of music that you probably perceived as “nowhere near easy listening”. But listen more, take your time to listen carefully and you probably get some insights, just like me. One of my insight is I discover why the music has no lyrics. Regardless the fact that the duo probably wasn’t intended to create music with lyrics, I really feel that their music doesn’t need any. If you need a lyric to sang a music verbally, well you can surely try to sing their music. Not by creating verbal lyrics, but to move your body with the music. Listen, and then move. For me, it’s as good as singing.

This music shows the response of Djembe playing upon minimalist contemporary European music of the 20th century. The music is built with improvisation through rhythmical interaction between two instruments (Djembe & Piano), as opposed as through a compositional process. This is evident in the use of repitition upon short rhythm patterns.

The progression is just out of this world...

Its serious composition and for some reason they manage to pull it of with funny ending. Bravo!!!

Loving books at a hardcore level, brought me to a certain kind of sense when I listen to his songs. It’s like reading a complete book. Thick with information, but concise. Listen to it, and you just can’t wait to share to your friends about these –poetry turn to song- kind of music. Emotional and cognitive as well, these sophisticated songs are enjoyable and communicative. It’ll caress your ears with certain exploration. Read them lyrics, and you probably found out that he is singing your story.

This album has the characteristics of Black American music, showing influences of Gospel, Blues, R&B, and Soul. The musician has full awareness of his roots.

C.

One truly remarakable thing about music is its ability to represent anything. Through music, and with music, you can try to understand things in languages that you don’t think exist. And there’s a certain “feel good” inner response within your own psychological realm just only trying to do so. Labelling the music as ethnical is probably simplify it’s true essence, not enhancing it, because the music itself goes deeper than ethnical identity, it goes through a sense of collective unconscious, a variable that you probably never learned deliberately, but can be shared with thousands of people. This music make me feel human.

This album has the distinct sound of Eastern European music. Its music is heterophonic & with a hetero-metric rhythm. Its musical modes show the influence of Arabic & Gypsy Music.

C.

It's Dangerous groove. Swinging Blues on Middle Eastern.

Nice Harmonization of melody. Where's my belly dancer??? Haha.

Emotional contact. That’s what I think Mr. Mancini is trying to build through his music. Every note created by every instrument guide me through some kind of emotional tunnel with various bends and turns. Follow it, and you’ll (think that you) understand what I say. Even though you don’t understand it, you just can feel it. No hassle, no unecessary complexity.

I also wonder how the music can very much enhancing the sense of the past, not only in terms of perception, but in terms of experience. The music relive everything prompting the old days, most likely not in a nostalgic kind of way, but in details that actually belongs to the timeline. Details like seductively calm, quick-upbeat-careless sensations which were only inherited by my current timeline, not generated. I guess you can always tell if something’s truly genuine.

This soundtrack album is a manifestation of the dinamics of city life in the United States. It shows the influence of Jazz, Rock'nRoll, & the use of electric instruments.

C.

It's one of my favorite Mancini's soundtrack arrangements.

The Change up at the end is the particular highlight of this song.

It's like classical, big band, and groove mix altogether. And He knows what crossover is all about!!!!

You have bossa groove, jazzy Rhodes, go go music style of bass line, and rock guitar melody. The songs make me wanna party with mamas and papas.
