Ice Music Festival
February 2 - February 3
Creating a truly unique aural experience, the world’s only Ice Music Festival will return for a trailblazing 13th year from February 2 and 3, 2018.
Located in the exotic mountain of Finse in Norway – the Ice Music Festival’s aesthetics, music and nature, melt together under the first full moon of the year.
Constructed and formed exclusively from naturally harvested ice and snow, the Festival is a tribute to art, the environment and one’s of the world’s most vital resources – water. Frozen water. Conceived and developed in 2006 by ice music pioneer Terje Isungset and Pål K Medhus, the Ice Music Festival is an annual celebration of collaborative music and expression performed by specially invited artists, curated by Terje.
Please note that the weather in Finse can be very cold, easily reaching -20ºC. The colder temperatures are perfect for the incredibly dynamic fragility of Ice Music because the colder the air temperature, the clearer the sound of Ice, which displays a far wider dynamic range. So seek out your warmest clothing and join them on a truly exotic aural journey!
