Bay Area Dance Week
April 27 - May 6
The Bay Area Dance Week (BADW) has been held annually for 20 years straight. It is part of the National Dance Week agenda of the USA. Although held throughout the country, the celebrations at BADW are arguably the most festive and largest by number of participants in the nation.
With dance more popular than ever around the nation, BADW will be a vibrant celebration, with an anticipated 400+ free events including classes, performances, open rehearsals, lecture demonstrations and more. BADW’s highlight is its Kickoff Event, where nearly 700 people join together in dance to celebrate the beginning of each year’s BADW. This annual event is organized by the Dancers’ Group [www.dancersgroup.org].
National Dance Week was formed in 1981 when a group of dance-related organizations in the USA began a strong “grass roots” movement to bring greater recognition to dance and its contributions to USA’s culture. Over the years, the organization’s dedication to its founding mission has inspired thousands of events during the ten-day annual celebration of National Dance Week in April, from gatherings in major cities to local showcases at small-town malls.
